Success in collegiate athletics is often measured by awards and trophies, but the story behind those achievements is what truly defines an athlete. Few competitors embody that more than Gina Milazzo whose resilience, determination, and work ethic have made her an accomplished golfer at SUNY Cortland.

As a DIII golfer, Gina has built an impressive resume. She was named SUNYAC Player of the Year, earned SUNY Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was recognized as SUNYAC Rookie of the Year, and represented her program on the national level by qualifying for the NCAA Divisions III Championship. Her success reflects the countless hours spent refining her game and a commitment to excellence both on the course and in the classroom.

While her accomplishments speak for themselves, what makes Gina deserving of recognition is the perseverance that fueled them. During her freshman year, she experienced the heartbreaking loss of her father. Despite facing one of life’s greatest challenges, she continued to push forward with remarkable strength, refusing to let adversity define her future.

Whether she’s competing for conference championships, representing her school at nationals, or excelling academically Gina demonstrates what it means to be a student-athlete. Her journey is proof of her resilience, dedication, and power to persevere, making her a deserving choice for Athlete of the Week.
